Glee Creator Brands Kings Of Leon ‘Self-Centred Assholes’

The creator of TV show Glee has launched a stinging attack on Kings Of Leon after the band turned down a request to have their hit ‘Use Somebody‘ used on the programme.

Last August, the Kings Of Leon were reported by NME as saying they distanced themselves from Glee’s advances in order to avoid accusations of ‘selling out’. Now, creator Ryan Murphy has called the band ‘assholes’, saying to Hollywoodreporter.com: “Fuck you, Kings Of Leon. They are self-centred assholes and they missed the big picture.”

Kings Of Leon frontman Caleb Followill was quick to respond to Murphy’s insults, saying their spat with Glee has been blown out of all proportion, and that the decision to refuse their music to be allowed on the show was primarily due to timing.

“This whole Glee thing is a shock to us,” he is quoted as saying. “It’s gotten out of hand. At the time of the request, we hadn’t even seen the show. It came at the end of that record cycle, and we were over promoting. This was never meant as a slap in the face to Glee.”

Murphy also found time to save a few choice words for former Guns n Roses guitarist Slash, who also criticised the programme recently. “Usually I find that people who make those comments, their careers are over,” Murphy said. “They’re uneducated and quite stupid.”

The cast of Glee is due to go up against acts including The National at this year’s Brit Awards in the International Breakthrough category.
