Labelling a band ‘an overnight success’ can often flippantly dismiss years of toil in the back of a cheap transit van, as wide-eyed musicians travel a seemingly endless road to stardom. However, in the case of London four-piece The Vaccines, that particular tag might just have found a perfect home.

New Northern Irish Bands Sought for ‘Belfast Calling’ Showcase

Twenty acts formed in Northern Ireland within the last two years are needed for the “New Blood 2011Belfast Calling showcase on February 20th.

The event, set to take place across three rooms in Belfast’s Limelight Complex, intends to gather and supply a platform for the next wave of Northern Irish bands after the month-long You Are festival last December proved the health of the current music scene.

The creator of TV show Glee has launched a stinging attack on Kings Of Leon after the band turned down a request to have their hit ‘Use Somebody‘ used on the programme.
