New Sponsor Could Secure Future Of The 100 Club

Jeff Horton, owner of the threatened London venue The 100 Club, has said the club could now be on course for safety as he has entered talks with a new potential sponsor.

Earlier this year, Horton claimed the iconic venue would close its doors for the last time before the end of 2010 due to escalating expenditure. However, he has now revealed the possible fresh cash injection has raised hopes that the club will survive beyond the end of this year.

“We are actually in talks now with somebody who’s stepped forward who wants to sponsor the club,” Horton told the UK‘s Evening Standard newspaper. “I can’t tell you any more than that because I’ve signed terms so I’m tied to a confidentiality agreement.”

While Horton remained tight-lipped on the identity of the new sponsor, he did disclose his optimism of a deal being struck in the near future. “I’m hopeful that something positive can be announced in the next week or so,” he said.

“It would involve the club keeping going – it would remain with me. It’s someone who knows we need a bit of support financially because it is more and more difficult to be independent in this day and age. If we’re going to keep going and the club’s legacy is going to continue, we need some support.”
