Biffy Clyro fans have stirred into action today after the winner of the UK’s latest X Factor series covered the Scottish band’s track ‘Many Of Horror‘ during his winning performance last night (12/12).

Winner Matt Cardle will now release the song as a single as the X Factor begins it’s annual assault on the coveted Christmas Number One spot.

However, Biffy fans have moved quickly to start a group on Facebook which aims to get the original version to the top of the UK charts in time for Christmas. The group, called ‘Let’s Get Biffy Clyro’s ‘Many of Horror’ to No. 1 for Christmas 2010′, has attracted over 15,000 fans in less than 24 hours after the winner of X Factor was announced, and will no doubt hope to continue the rapid growth over the course of the week.

In recent years, Simon Cowell‘s show has dominated the traditional UK Christmas Number One, awarded to the track at the summit of the Singles chart on the last Sunday before Christmas, but was famously kept off the number one spot last year after another Facebook campaign was successful in pushing Rage Against The Machine to #1.
