Elbow have unveiled the title of their eagerly anticipated new album, the follow up to 2008’s ‘The Seldom Seen Kid‘.

In an interview with BBC 6Music, the band’s frontman Guy Garvey announced the new record will be called ‘Build a Rocket, Boys‘, and admitted that he has needed to overcome initial reservations about the album before deciding to complete the work. “I didn’t know whether it was good or not for a couple of weeks,” he said, “but I’m very happy with it now.”

The album is due for release on March 7th next year, and will coincide with a large UK arena tour, something which Garvey admitted occupied their thoughts while they recorded the new material. “It’s impossible not to consider where you’re going to play your music live when you write it,” he said. “But it’s been that way for a long time. We very arrogantly assumed we were going to be playing arenas very early on.”

Elbow enjoyed huge critical and commercial success with the release of ‘The Seldom Seen Kid‘, and the LP beat off competition from the likes of Radiohead and Laura Marling to take home the 2008 Mercury Music Prize.
