Indie giants Coldplay are set to play a second hidden charity gig in Newcastle tonight. The band already performed an  intimate gig at Liverpool’s Royal Court Theater supported by the Choir with No Name which is made up of a group of homeless people.

The shows were organized to draw attention to the “hidden problem of homelessness” and collect money for the charity ‘Crisis

Crisis reports that more than £238,000 had been raised by Coldplay fans so far.

Chief Executive of Crisis, Leslie Morphy, said: “To have the backing of Coldplay brings something unique to Crisis this Christmas.

“We know that their support and millions of fans will help shine a light on the thousands of hidden homeless people we strive to help year round who are all too often forgotten – particularly at Christmas when we know the pain of homelessness can be particularly acute.”

The intimate concert venues were picked by Coldplay and each have a capacity of around 1,000 people.

Coldplay friends Ant & Dec have offered their own services for a charity concert at Newcastle’s Journal Tyne Theatre tomorrow.

With ‘Crisis Hidden Gigs‘ the venues customarily remain a secret until 24 hours before the band are due to step on stage.
