Coldplay Admit To ‘Bad Vibes’ After World Tour

coldplay1As they prepare for a fresh chapter with the release of their new Christmas single, Coldplay have admitted to ‘bad vibes’ surrounding the band upon the completion of their 2009 Viva La Vida world tour.

The band’s frontman Chris Martin made the admission on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 show, revealing there was ‘bad stuff happening’ when Coldplay returned from America. “When we came back from America last time we had some bad stuff happening in our group,” he said.

On the group’s new album, which is due for release some time in 2011, Martin declared Coldplay are “going for it,” and added: “We regard this as our last big shot. We had a lot of songs and we cut a lot of songs. It’s quite brutal – especially if you’re the person which brings the songs. Now we’re close to what the album might be.”

Coldplay released the festive-themed track ‘Christmas Lights‘ via iTunes yesterday (Dec 1st), and Martin told Zane Lowe they took some time in deciding whether to issue the new single. “We had to pluck up a lot of courage but the problem is that we really like it so that’s why we had to put it out,” he explained. “Not to be arrogant – it’s not our worst song.”

Coldplay are due to play two charity gigs in the UK this month, in Liverpool on the 19th and Newcastle a day later.
