Robert Plant Performs Led Zeppelin Classics At Electric Proms Gig

robert-plantRobert Plant and his Band Of Joy wheeled out a selection of Led Zeppelin classics during his BBC Electric Proms gig last weekend, which also featured the London Oriana Choir during a memorable encore.

Robert Plant was appearing at the Electric Proms as part of the ‘legends’ trio which also included performances from Elton John and Neil Diamond, and treated fans to stripped down versions of the Led Zep tracks ‘Tangerine‘, ‘Misty Mountain Hop‘, ‘Houses of the Holy‘, ‘Gallow’s Pole‘ and ‘Rock and Roll‘.

Plant also showcased songs from his recent well-received ‘Band Of Joy‘ album, and told the assembled crowd: “It is great to be in this building. I think I have been here before but then I think I’ve been to a lot of places before.”

As in keeping with the tradition of the Electric Proms, Plant chose a classical act to accompany him for the special performance, and thus treated fans to an encore with the London Oriana Choir, who helped to close the show with epic renditions of the hymn ‘12 Gates to the City‘ and a cover of the Grateful Dead‘s ‘And We Bid You Goodnight‘.

Robert Plant and the Band Of Joy’s Electric Proms show is due for broadcast in the UK on Saturday, November 4th.
