Queues were seen emerging three days before Sir Paul McCartney‘s first gig in Brazil for 18 years, as the former Beatles legend performed to over 66,000 people in Porto Allegre last weekend.

According to reports, devoted fans began pitching tents along the roads leading to the Beira Rio Stadium days before Sunday’s performance, forming a makeshift community which was dubbed the ‘Paul McCartney Village’, and McCartneyl was quick to replicate his fans’ adoration. “I love South American audiences,” Sir Paul said.

“I always think I have Latin blood because I connect so strongly with their love of music and their love of rhythm and their love of melody, so I always feel like I have a very big bond with South American people and Latin people in general.”

Later, a spokesman also commented on the commitment of McCartney’s South American fans, calling it an ‘amazing sight’. “It was an amazing sight to see,” the spokesman said. “People had been camping out for days just to ensure they could get the best position possible.”

McCartney’s Up and Coming Tour now heads to Buenos Aires’ River Plate Stadium this Wednesday for two nights, before returning to Brazil for two dates in Sao Paolo on November 21st and 22nd.
