TV Star Alan Partridge Launches Attack On Kasabian

kasabian_bigFictional local radio DJ Alan Partridge, the brilliant comic creation of UK actor/comedian Steve Coogan, has delivered a scathing attack on Kasabian via a voicemail message sent to the band’s frontman Tom Meighan.

Speaking in The Sun newspaper, Meighan told of his bemusement at coming across the joke one day whilst idly checking his messages. According to the singer, Partridge criticised the group for setting a ‘bad example’ to children as they took their band name from one of the notorious Charles Manson family. “I was checking my voice-mails and they were all pretty mundane, then Alan Partridge piped up,” he said.

“He was having a right go at us, saying we were setting a bad example to kids for naming the band after Linda Kasabian. It was hysterical. I love Steve Coogan, he’s a funny man. I’ve kept it, though I’m slightly worried how he got my number – and that I’m going to feature on some wind-up show.”

Coogan’s Alan Partridge character is making an online comeback after the hugely successful BBC series ‘Knowing Me, Knowing You‘ and the follow-up ‘I’m Alan Partridge‘, which aired for two runs in 1997 and 2002. According to reports, 12 short episodes are being filmed, the first of which will be made available for download on November 5th from fostersfunny.co.uk.
