Songwriter Laura Marling has said her original plan to release two albums this year has been shelved, and she will now issue a new record some time in 2011.

Around the time of the release of her recent album ‘I Speak Because I Can‘, Marling had outlined her desire to have a follow up released by the September of this year, but has now said the LP will not be ready until 2011. “It’s not going to be this year, but it’s good,” she told NME.

“It will be on its way soon, which is nice. It’s becoming different from the last album actually, because I’ve scrapped a bit of it halfway through. I hope to have it done by February. Setting deadlines is not my favourite thing!”

I Speak Because I Can‘, Laura Marling’s second studio album, confirmed her status as one of Britain’s brightest new acts upon it’s release in March this year. The record peaked at #4 on the UK Album chart, and went on to receive a coveted Mercury Music Prize nomination, following in the footsteps of her debut ‘Alas I Cannot Swim‘, which also found it’s way on to the shortlist in 2008, losing out to Elbow’sThe Seldom Seen Kid‘.
