Manic Street Preachers have been forced to pull two shows at London’s Brixton Academy scheduled for tonight (28/10) and tomorrow due to illness.

The band’s frontman James Dean Bradfield has been diagnosed with acute laryngitis, which caused the cancellation of a show in Birmingham earlier this week. After being advised by doctors to rest his voice, Bradfield release a statement saying: “I would like to personally apologise for the situation tonight. Nothing makes us feel worse than having to postpone a show especially since we always receive a great reaction in Birmingham. The audience there have always been loyal to us. Again sincere apologies for this.”

Now, with the situation bringing further disruption, Bradfield has again apologised to fans for the inconvenience: “I would like to personally apologise to the fans,” he said. “Nothing makes us feel worse than having to postpone a show. We were particularly looking forward to playing two nights at Brixton as we have such special memories of previous gigs at this venue. To say we are gutted about this situation is putting it mildly!”

The affected dates have been quickly rearranged, with the Birmingham gig taking place on December 14th, while their stop at Brixton Academy is now set for January 21st and 22nd.
