The Tennessee four-piece are due to play the legendary venue on May 28th next year, a date which will mark the 30th anniversary since the first gig at Slane Castle in 1981, which was headlined by Thin Lizzy.
Speaking of the booking, venue owner Lord Henry Mountcharles said it was ‘inevitable’ Kings Of Leon would be picked for the anniversary date, and added: “Slane is very personal to me. Sometimes it’s a really tough call but this was kind of an inevitable journey.
Their musical journey is special. They have openly admitted that Thin Lizzy was one of their primary influences and they opened the first Slane in 1981. Thirty years later that had a poignancy to me.”
Tickets for the 80,000 capacity venue will go on sale next Friday (November 5th), priced at €79.
