The Charlatans’ US tour is on hold today after their drummer Jon Brookes was involved in a major health scare during their show at Philadelphia’s Johnny Brenda’s venue last night (15/9).

Not long into the set, Brookes is reported to have stopped breathing and collapsed, but was fortunate enough to be tended to by a doctor who was in attendance who administered first aid until paramedics arrived. He was then rushed to the city’s St. Joseph’s Hospital and, according to the band’s official website, was given a CAT scan. He is now said to be responding well to treatment and will be transferred to a larger hospital for further examinations. The statement also claims his condition is now improving and ‘doctors believe there will be no long term effects on his health’.

The Charlatans are touring the US in support of their eleventh studio album ‘Who We Touch‘, which landed at #21 in the UK Album chart upon it’s release earlier this month.

Fans are being advised to keep checking the Manchester group’s official website for the latest news regarding future gigs.
