Now, he doesn’t strike you as someone who would admit he’s wrong, Slash would probably confirm that, and Axl Rose is now using Twitter to insist he was perfectly within his rights to rock up at Reading Festival last Friday over an hour late. Despite, the organisers warning his Guns n Roses set faced being pulled if he ran over the curfew, Axl is still claiming he had an agreement with the management which was not followed through, and now has tweeted that he wasn’t late anyway: “Our start times at the Reading And Leeds Festivals factually had nothing to do with us as the previous bands came offstage when they did and we went on within our contracted and documented changeover time period. If you are aware of our changeover time, the average length of our show and the general nature of how these types of festivals run all of which are no big secret s,why book us?”

Pete Doherty appears to be sorting himself out recently; he is said to be working hard on curbing his drug dependencies, and he has just completely a hugely successful reunion with The Libertines. So what better way to continue his rehab than moving in with Amy Winehouse? According to The Sun, Amy Winehouse has offered her pal a place at her apartment as he needs a London base. “Amy has offered Pete a place to stay while he’s in London working on The Libertines comeback,” a ‘source’ has said. “She thinks a lot of him and they’ve been through a lot together so she wants to help him out. Pals are worried because they are bad influences on each other.“ Oh come on, what could possibly go wrong?

Georgia-based band Dead Confederate released their second album ‘Sugar’ last week in the US, with the CD release to follow next week in the UK. The album was produced by Hold Steady and Sonic Youth cohort John Agnello and the band are set to hit the road in the US this month with the equally brilliant Alberta Cross. What could be less punk than taking part in a butter advert? Tough one, but a ‘Never Mind The Bollocks’ soap and perfume set probably runs it close. That’s the latest plans from the Sex Pistols though, with their very own scent set to hit the shelves in the US on September 10th after being released in Paris. The band have yet to comment directly on the new venture, but a spokesman for Live Nation has said they were ‘closely involved’ with the launch.

After a highly-publicised appearance on Simon Cowell’s UK X Factor show recently, pop star Katy Perry could be adding a few more noughts to her bank balance with rumours of a lucrative offer to appear on the US version being made. A ‘source’ told the UK’s Daily Mirror newspaper the singer could be set to earn over $300,000 a show: “Simon wants to get the judging names signed, sealed and announced within six weeks. He wants at least one massive American star, someone who is known globally, plus one Brit and at least one authoritative male. Katy was thrilled, especially by the package which is said to be a $340,000-a-show deal.”
