Despite reportedly enduring a feud which stretches back into the Nineties, former Guns n Roses guitarist Slash has revealed he flirted with the idea of inviting his former bandmate Axl Rose to appear on his recent solo album.

Slash explained how the the thought of including Axl on his solo record first came to him when he was going through a long list of singers who he felt could contribute to the new tracks. “When I was in the middle of this process there were a lot of singers’ names who flew through my mind during the process,” he said in an interview with Classic Rock.

“You are living in ‘Singer Land’ so all you are thinking about is singers. The thought of him crossed my mind at one point. I thought, ‘Axl could sing the shit out of any of these songs.'”

However, when asked why he decided against getting in touch with his old frontman, Slash jokingly pointed to Axl Rose’s well-known reputation for bad time-keeping as a reason for rejecting the plan. “I wanted to put the record out in this millennium,” he said.

Slash’s self-titled debut solo album was released in March, and featured contributions from the likes of Chris Cornell and Iggy Pop.
