On Tuesday (9/14), hip NYC venue Terminal 5 had its rafters shook when TAB the Band and Slash took the stage. Both bands brought a different flavor of hard rock to the stage, but both easily sated the hard rock-hungry crowd.

First up was Taddy Porter, with members Andy Brewer, Doug Jones, Kevin Jones and Joe Selby, kicking off the night with the scorching, relentless rock, performing their latest hit, “Shake Me,” as well as other searing tunes. TAB the Band took to the stage after them, with a frenetic energy akin to Oingo Boingo meets Van Halen, a definite 70s tinge to all their hard-hitting songs. The Boston-based band, helmed by Adrian Perry (Joe Perry’s son) on vocals and bass, Anthony Joseph Perry, Jr. (Joe Perry’s other son) on guitars, Benjamin “Bun” Tileston on drums, Lou “Lou” Jannetty on guitar, belted out tunes from their latest release Zoo Noises, including “A Girl Like You” and Bought and Sold,” wonderful musical confections of hardcore shredding and intense vocals, as well as fan favorites and a new tune “Little Water,” which was a perfect demonstration of their retro beats and modern-day sensibilities. The twenty-something crowd packed into the small space had their energy stoked by this band-to-watch and were raring to go when Slash hit the stage.

When the former Guns ‘n’ Roses shredder took the stage, the hyped audience went wild. Cool-as-ice Slash sauntered onto the stage with his band, including lead vocalist Myles Kennedy, and played ferocious, bluesy, barely legal hard rock. Among some of the songs the edgy crew did were “Paradise City,” “My Michelle,” “Civil War,” “By the Sword,” and “Slither,” with Slash’s 12-minute “Godfather” solo a pivotal moment in the show, the master guitarist’s spectacular skills on full display.

All three of these bands unleashed some primordial sounds on the eager mass, delighting them with raw, organic rock and leaving them wanting more.
