Legendary guitarist Jimmy Page is to publish a unique take on his memoirs, releasing a 500 page ‘visual documentary’ consisting exclusively of photos, but fans who want to own the new project will have to shell out the princely sum of £445.

Speaking to the New York Times, Page explained how the new idea was conceived after he was approached to write his autobiography. “I’ve been approached to do an autobiography, but I thought that was the least attractive way of doing a book,” he said. “So I thought it would be quite interesting to do a photographic autobiography a career in pictures.

It’s purely about the music, and nothing else. You can see a little bit behind the music, and you can make your own mind up. I’m not really colouring it too much. I didn’t want to laden it with controversies. I just wanted the pictures to speak in a way that the music does.”

Asked whether he would consider taking part in a more conventional autobiography, Page said: “When publishing people say, ‘How about writing a book?’ I say, ‘Yes, I’ve thought about it, but I’d like a book that came out posthumously.'”

Those who purchase the new book can expect an autographed, hand-bound theme limited to 2,500 copies, which will be rendered in morocco leather with a ‘unique perspex front’.
