Seattle-based Fleet Foxes have finished work on the follow up to their well received eponymous debut album, according to a post by frontman Robin Pecknold on the band’s official Facebook page.

Pecknold told fans the band will travelling to New York shortly in order to mix the new tracks, and hope to have some new material out shortly. “Hey all, it’s been a bit since a recording update,” he wrote.

“Well, recording is done! We are flying to New York tomorrow to mix and master the album and will have information about release date and when you’ll get to hear a song or two SOON. Geologically soon but soon.”

Released in June 2008, the group’s self-titled debut picked up on the momentum gained from their second EP ‘Sun Giant‘, and enjoyed widespread critical acclaim. It was named at number one on various publications’ 2008 End Of Year lists, including Pitchfork, Billboard and Mojo. In addition, Rolling Stone put the record at #47 on their 100 Best Albums Of The Decade list. Their relaxed sound and tight harmonies became a huge hit with fans in the UK, and saw them become one of the standout performers during last year’s festival season.

No release date has yet been confirmed for the new album which was reported to have the working title ‘Deepwater Horizon‘.
