British band Coldplay and rap superstar Jay-Z have agreed a multi-million dollar deal to perform at a concert together on New Year’s Eve, reports the New York Post.

According to the paper, Chris Martin and co will join Jay-Z at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas resort as part of the celebrations to see in 2011.

Celebrity party planner Colin Cowie is said to have organised the show which is set to generate huge interest, but fans hoping to be a part of the gig are likely to be disappointed as rumours suggest the bash will be invite only with no tickets being put on general sale to the public. Those who do get an invite will receive separate sets from Coldplay and Jay-Z before they later take to the stage to perform together.

A source told the New York Post newspaper Jay-Z’s wife Beyonce Knowles is also now looking to set up a gig in Las Vegas in order to spend the New Year with her husband. “Organisers have spent millions securing the acts,” the source said. “The word is that Beyonce is now looking for a Vegas New Year’s gig so she will be in town with Jay.”

Jay-Z and Coldplay have a history of collaboration, with the rapper appearing on Coldplay’s track ‘Lost +‘ which featured on the EP ‘Prospekt’s March‘, while they have also performed the track at the 2009 Grammy Awards.
