Nottingham’s Headstock festival will take place this Saturday (11/9) and tickets remain available for the event which boats an eclectic line-up catered for all music tastes, topped by Irish band Ash.

Very much a community led occasion, the Wakestock festival is the result of the Big Lottery Fund and BBC’s Village SOS initiative and is being held in Newstead Village near Nottingham. Over 300 local residents have been working round the clock to put on the show which will help to pump new funds and regeneration into an area which suffered greatly after the closure of it’s mine in 1987.

Much attention has been payed to cementing the links between the festival and the site’s mining history, with the ‘Headstock’ title coming from the structure which was used to transport miners up and down a mining shaft, while Newstead Brass Band, the original Newstead Colliery Band, will get proceedings under way on the main stage.

Ash, currently enjoying success with their ground breaking A-Z Singles series, will head a bill which also features acclaimed Sunderland trio Field Music and indie rockers Frightened Rabbit, while The Beat will also visit the festival as part of their large UK tour.

Live4ever is giving away two pair of tickets to the event. Hurry on over to our facebook page and register by clicking the like button underneath our contest posting for the festival. Winners announced on Thursday, good luck!
