Fruit on the Vine: Russell Simmons’ ARGYLECULTURE Fall 2010 Menswear Presentation

Russell Simmons premiered his Fall 2010 line for his geo-preppy leisure line, Argyleculture in the Big Apple this Tuesday (8/3) . There was a cocktail party at Ampersand Studios on the west side beforehand, with the attendees a mixture of celebutantes, glitterati and kinder-and-gentler paparazzi. Belvedere vodka, one of the sponsors along with Macy’s, was served up as 80s R&B pulsated in the background, giving the event a funky-soul retro feel. The sparse, white studio was the perfect setting for the event, promoting the ambiance of a photo shoot about to happen.

As opposed to the West Coast, events are always much less pretentious on the East Coast, where even the chicest aren’t afraid to be real.

The fashion show was like a live music video, with on-the-street footage of the models displayed in the background as each smartly-dressed model walked out in the same attire he was suited up in in the backdrop. The clothing ranged from earthy surfer wear to hip, business casual, the male models young, clean-cut and fresh-faced. Simmons has designed the Argyleculture line for the “well-rounded” man and if the Fall selection is any indication, any guy with good taste and a moderate budget should be eager to pluck these items from the fall fashion vine.

Here’s a little peek at footage of the fashion show
