Kings Of Leon have dismissed accusations of ‘selling out’ since the release of their smash-hit album ‘Only By The Night‘ in 2008, and instead insist they have turned down countless offers to appear in various hit TV shows in the States.
When quizzed by NME that they had engineered their fourth studio album to be a commercially viable release, with radio-friendly singles such as ‘Sex On Fire‘ and ‘Use Somebody‘, the members opted to reveal they had turned down lucrative offers in the intervening years, and could have ‘sold out a lot more’. “We had some people call us up wanting to know if we’d allow ‘Use Somebody‘ to appear in the trailer for their next movie, and we turned them down,” frontman Caleb revealed on the approach from Glee. “Next day, they called back and tried to put us through to the star of the movie – I won’t name names, but he’s an incredibly famous actor – to let him try and convince us to agree to do it. I was like, ‘Man, don’t even waste your energy’.”
Later, bass player Jared also outlined the offer from TV series Ugly Betty: “They wanted us to play ourselves. We were supposed to come in and help with some problem or other.”
The band’s hotly-anticipated new album, ‘Come Around Sundown‘, is set for release in the UK on October 18th, and a day later in the US.
Kings of Leon – what a joke – turning down $$ – you guys are such losers – no one is going to give a shit about your “integrity” and “shitty music” in 10 years (if not sooner). See at least one of you on celebrity rehab and another on celebrity fit club.
