Following Kasabian’s headline shows at last weekend’s V Festival, their final scheduled dates, frontman Tom Meighan told the UK’s News Of The World newspaper he is looking into new solo projects to keep him busy during the band’s down-time.

Kasabian were a big hit at the weekend, and brought the Chelmsford leg of the festival to a close on Sunday (22/8) with a hit-packed set. Earlier, Meighan had spoken to the News Of The World of his future plans, revealing he may move into TV documentaries. “This is our last gig. We’re on a break,” he said. “It will be good to bow out at V. After tonight we are taking some time off. Tonight we are going to have a proper tear-up. V is such a major festival, so it’s emotional for us.

We are a super-tight rock band and we will be back in the studio before long. I will do something musically in between. And I’m thinking of doing a TV documentary – I am just going to see what comes up.”

The V Festival also provided another well-received show from Kasabian’s fellow headliners Kings Of Leon, with hit single ‘Sex On Fire‘ predictably getting the biggest response. The huge singalong for the 2008 single further highlighted the dominance the track is now holding over their career, and drummer Nathan Followill told Absolute Radio he has noticed new fans failing to spot the difference between their brand new tracks and the songs lifted from their brilliant earlier records. “The other night there was someone on the front row and we had played a new song, and then we played ‘Trani‘ which is off our first album,” he explained.

“I saw the girl look at another girl and say ‘Is this another new song?’. So it’s like a lot of them don’t know the difference.”

Elsewhere, Manchester trio Doves played what they described as their “last festival for quite sometime” and White Lies aired brand new material set for the follow-up to their 2009 debut ‘To Lose My Life‘.
