Florence & The Machine Going Back To Basics On New Album

After the runaway achievements of their debut ‘Lungs‘, Florence & The Machine could be forgiven for enjoying the fruits of success while recording their new album. However, according to band leader Florence Welch, they are going back to the ‘banging pots’ approach of their first record during the new sessions.

The new album is set to be one of the key releases of next year after the multi-award winning debut, and Florence has said they are sticking to a familiar formula as they work on the follow-up. “We’ve not got pimped out or anything like that,” she revealed. “I don’t like big studios, so I’m just going to go back into the little place in Crystal Palace with Izzy Summers, who I worked on the first album with.

We’ll just go back to banging pots and pans, nothing’s really changed. We like to start very basic and stripped back.”

The band are also set for yet another appearance at a UK festival this summer when they perform at this weekend’s V Festival, and Florence has said they may air more new material during the show. “I don’t really plan sets,” she explained. “We played two new songs at Glastonbury, so we’ll probably include them.”

Florence & The Machine will play the 4Music Stage at V, beginning at Hylands Park on Saturday.
