LCD Soundsystem Could Produce Next Arcade Fire Album

LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy has once again distanced himself from earlier comments that his latest studio record ‘This Is Happening‘ would be the last, but has said he would like to work on other projects before he returns, stating that producing a record by Arcade Fire in the future is top of his wish list.

“I’ve been writing lists of things I need to do that I’ve not been able to do because I’ve been on tour or making a record for the last eight years,” he told BBC 6 Music. “LCD’s not going to die. We’re going to go back to it being a part of our lives as opposed to our whole lives.”

Commenting on Arcade Fire, Murphy revealed he has been close to working with the Canadian band on two occasions, and would now like to make the plans a reality. “I’ve missed two opportunities to have worked with them,” he said. “Before ‘Neon Bible‘ I went to Montreal and hung out with them. We talked about doing the record but it just didn’t work out. I took an extra year off but so did they, so when it was time to make the new LCD Soundsystem record, they were making theirs.”

The new Arcade Fire album, ‘The Suburbs‘, is due for release in the UK on August 3rd.
