La Roux, the electronic duo led principally by Eleanor Jackson, have announced details of their new single ‘Tigerlily‘, the fifth to be taken from the Mercury-nominated 2009 self-titled debut.
In a behind-the-scenes video shot on the set of the song’s new promo, singer Jackson spoke of the themes behind the track and video: “The track is about stalking in a love sort of way. I’ve never actually stalked anyone, I’ve always seen this track as a very dark thing, a very film noir, creepy, stalky alleyway thing. I play the predator and Natasha plays the prey. It was really important for me to have someone that is as androgynous as I am. Obviously people are going to go, ‘Oh my god is there a girl in her video because she likes girls?’ It was just really a statement about androgyny. If I’m honest I would rather have someone who wasn’t boy or girl, I would pick someone who strangely had both!”
‘Tigerlily‘ follows the previous singles ‘Quicksand‘, ‘In For The Kill‘, ‘I’m Not Your Toy‘ and ‘Bulletproof‘, which hit the top spot in the UK Singles chart and also went top 10 in the US.
