Muse’s extravagant live show claimed a high profile victim at Germany’s Rock AM Ring on Saturday (7/5). MTV Europe were apparently unable to air hard rock band Slayer’s performance at the festival after a huge UFO unveiled by Muse for their spot managed to block the channel’s signal, forcing them off air for a short time.

After Rage Against The Machine performed their Christmas no.1 celebration gig at London’s Finsbury Park last weekend, Zach De La Rocha has revealed the band may be ready to record their first new material since 1999. After appearing at the free gig in front of over 40,000 fans, De La Rocha told NME.com: “I think it’s a genuine possibility. We have to get our heads around what we’re going to do towards the end of the year and finish up on some other projects and we’ll take it from there.”

The Coral’s future appeared to be hanging in the balance after the departure of influential guitarist Bill Ryder-Jones in 2008 but, in returning recently as a five-piece with new single ‘1000 Years‘, the Liverpool-based band have once again shown they remain one of the best British acts to emerge in the last ten years. They might never better their amazing 2002 debut, but ‘1000 Years‘ shows the group have certainly not lost their knack for catchy, memorable melodies. The track is released on 5th July, followed a week later by the album ‘Butterfly House‘.

Any Glastonbury festival-goers worried about a conflict of interests over the weekend of 25/27th June can rest at ease as organisers have confirmed England’s first knockout games of the tournament, scheduled to take place on either Saturday or Sunday, will be aired at the event. Now all England have to do is qualify from the group…

Lily Allen seems to have been in and out of retirement more times than Rocky Balboa since bursting onto the music scene in 2006, and according to the Daily Star newspaper, she is starting to get itchy feet once more: “Lily’s currently writing the best music of her career. She no longer has the pressure of writing for a record label and is loving music again,” a ‘source’ told the paper. “She’s on a high from her Ivor Novello Awards clean sweep and is starting to have second thoughts about quitting. Lily feels like she’s walked away when she’s in her prime.”

Local Natives have recently released the video for ‘ World News’, the latest track to be taken from their brilliant debut album ‘Gorilla Manor’. With a video similar in style to Mumford & Sons’ ‘The Cave’, the track is one of the many highlights from a superb record, displaying all the tight harmonies and crisp production which has gained the band so much acclaim over the past 12 months. Check out the video below, and why not take a look through our interview with the band’s guitarist Ryan Hahn here.
