June 4, 2010; Washington, D.C. – NPR Music, together with three partner public radio stations, sets up camp by the four main stages at this year’s Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee, presenting three days of live webcasts with dozens of performances from popular musicians. From June 11-13, NPR Music, together with Member stations KUT Austin, The Current from Minnesota Public Radio and WFUV New York, team up to offer more than 40 full sets from acts taking the Festival’s Which, What, This, and That stages, including The Dave Matthews Band, The Dead Weather, Kings of Leon, Nas and Damian Marley, Phoenix, The Avett Brothers, Jimmy Cliff, The Flaming Lips (performing Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon), Norah Jones, Jay Electronica, The Gossip, Dan Deacon, LCD Soundsystem and John Prine.
This is the first time that curated coverage of handpicked Bonnaroo concerts will be accessible through free, live audio webcasts at NPR Music. NPR Music’s live festival coverage will be available at www.npr.org/bonnaroo, June 11-13 from 1 PM (ET) to approximately 2 AM (ET), where there will also be festival news and photos. In addition, NPR Music will archive many of the complete performances for later on-demand listening. Music from this year’s festivals can be previewed at NPR Music’s 110-song “A Bonnaroo Mix 2010” (www.npr.org/bonnaroo) and by downloading a free 11-song “NPR Music at Bonnaroo” sampler. Both feature many of the acts NPR Music will webcast and broadcast from the festival. The sampler includes music from The Black Keys, Dan Deacon, Miranda Lambert and Bomba Estereo. Additionally, All Songs Considered gears up for the festival on June 8 with an episode showcasing artists scheduled to perform.
Hosting NPR Music’s coverage of Bonnaroo are noted tastemakers Bob Boilen, host and creator of All Songs Considered and its “Live in Concert” series; Rita Houston of WFUV; KUT’s Andy Uhler; and The Current’s Jill Riley. Bonnaroo artist lists and performance schedules are currently at NPR Music and will be updated throughout the festival.
