Ex-Stereophonics Drummer Stuart Cable Dies

_39384792_cable300Stuart Cable, the former drummer of Welsh rock band Stereophonics, has been found dead at his home in South Wales.

Cable, who was 40 years old, was discovered in his Aberdare residence this morning (7/5). His mother Mable announced the new s,telling Walesonline.co.uk: “Stuart has travelled all over the world with the band and I have worried myself silly. He is now settled down and then this has happened. It has not sunk in yet,” while Stuart’s brother Paul released a statement saying: “The family has no further comment to make at this stage. It is in the hands of the police.”

Mike Peters, lead singer with The Alarm, has led the tributes to Cable, saying his death is a ‘real tragedy’. “He was supposed to be joining us for Rhondda Rocks,” he said. “I will remember him as someone who was so alive – I can’t believe he’s gone. I don’t know what the circumstances are but it’s a real tragedy. He was always smiling and laughing and great to be around. He had lots of energy and couldn’t wait for the next day to come around. He was a larger than life character who seemed to be a driving force behind the personality of the Stereophonics.”

No cause of death has yet been established for the drummer, who presented a regular Saturday Rock Show on radio in Wales following his departure from Stereophonics in 2003.
