Review: Rage Against the Machine – Live at Finsbury Park

After making the UK Christmas number one last December, when Rage Against the Machine promised fans a free show in London in return for their support, tickets for the Finsbury Park event were always going to be hot property. Over 180,000 hopefuls tried to apply – just under 40,000 of those were lucky enough to attend what will surely be one of the greatest gigs of the summer.

This summer will finally see the release of Richard Ashcroft’s newest album. His new band The United Nations of Sound have been hard at work with fellow producer N0 ID, who previously worked with Jay-Z, and have announced that the eponymous LP will be out in July.

Review: Charlatans – ‘Love Is Ending’

The Charlatans seem to have somehow avoided the ravages of time. New single, Love Is Ending, is concrete evidence to support this claim. Tim Burgess still sounds like a hungry twenty year old, despite now being officially middle aged. Even as they enter the third decade of their career, they’re producing music that sounds fresh and pertinent. Tim has kept the Charlatans vehicle safely on the road without jack-knifing, but what can we learn from this impressive longevity of good inter-band relations? Perhaps contrary to popular belief it is actually Tim who is the nicest man in rock, and not the much touted Dave Grohl.
