Dance legends Faithless are this week’s no.1 in the Indie Album Chart, with their sixth studio album ‘The Dance‘ replacing The National at the top. Simple Minds frontman Jim Kerr’s new solo project Lost Boy enters at #8, and songwriter Tracey Thorn debuts at no.3. The xx’s eponymous debut album remains in the top 10 in it’s 40th week on the chart.

A campaign by Leeds United supporters aimed at getting their club’s anthem into the charts in celebration of their recent promotion results in a no.1 on this week’s Indie Singles chart, with last week’s no.1 ‘Crush‘ dropping to #3. Elsewhere, singer Katie Melua is at two with her new track ‘The Flood‘ and ska band King Blues land a top 10 spot with their new single ‘Headbutt‘.

Legendary former Jam & Style Council frontman Paul Weller (pic) is set for a week-long residency at London’s Royal Albert Hall over the next few days in support of his well received new tenth studio album ‘Wake Up The Nation’. The new record has continued his recent critical acclaim, with one reviewer declaring: ‘The album’s length (16 short songs over 40 minutes) and wide stylistic breadth give the packed-in feel of a career-spanning collection, a record that would feel like a standout for any artist, let alone one whose most groundbreaking work supposedly lies nearly 30 years in the past.’ Tickets remain available for a selection of his upcoming dates.
