Second BBC 6Music Protest To Go Ahead This Weekend

Organisers of the Save BBC 6Music campaign, set up to voice opposition over the planned closure of the British digital station, have announced they are to stage a second protest this weekend following a similar event which involved listeners, presenters and musicians last March.

The Mars Volta Begin Work On New LP

The Mars Volta have revealed they are to begin work on the follow-up to 2009′s ‘Octahedron‘, with frontman Cedric Bixler-Zavala set to take a more leading role in the creation of the album after guitarist and c0-founder Omar Rodríguez-López revealed he is willing to relinquish some control of their recordings.

Alex Kapranos, frontman of Glasgow’s Franz Ferdinand, has revealed he intends to keep the make-up of their new album under wraps, saying he believes he spoilt the last record due to offering too much information on their plans prior to it’s release.

!!! will release their fourth studio album in the UK on August 23rd, and a day a later in the US, they revealed today. It will be their first record since the sudden death of their drummer Jerry Fuchs late last year. Entitled ‘Strange Weather, Isn’t It?‘, it is the follow-up to 2007′s ‘Myth Takes‘.

Mogwai to Release the Concert Film ‘Burning’ & Live Album ‘Special Moves’

Seminal Scottish post-rock band Mogwai are thrilled to announce their first official live concert film release “Burning” with accompanying live album Special Moves on August 24th. The film, directed by Vincent Moon and Nathanael Le Scouarnac of the world-renowned La Blogotheque’s Take-Away Shows, was shot at the band’s sold-out three-night residency at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg in April 2009.
