Welsh rockers Stereophonics have launched a competition which will result in an unsigned Welsh band supporting them at their upcoming summer show at the Cardiff City Stadium on June 5th.
Frontman Kelly Jones initially made the announcement at a recent Summer In The City press conference, and the band have now confirmed the details on their official website. The winning band will be handed the opening slot on the day of the gig, and will also have daily airplay on Wales’ radio station Red Dragon FM in the week leading up to the gig, as well as coverage in the South Wales Echo newspaper and a spot on the Myspace homepage. “It’s going to be a Welsh summer celebration,” Kelly Jones said of the competition. “Giving something back to the people of the valleys, towns and cities.”
To enter the competition, bands must upload a video performance of one song on Myspace, with the deadline for all entries being May 26th. The winner will be announced on May 28th. Also joining the Stereophonics at the summer show will be Kids In Glass Houses and Doves.
