‘New’ Beatles Release To Mark UK Record Store Day


pspaper A new re-issue of The Beatles’ classic 1966 single ‘Paperback Writer‘ is one of 12 new vinyls being released through Parlophone across the UK shortly to celebrate Record Store Day. It will be backed by the b-side ‘Rain‘ as it was originally.

Paperback Writer‘ was first released in the UK in June 1966 and stayed at no.1 in the charts for two weeks. It is noted for being the group’s first UK single that could not be considered as a ‘love song’, and came two months before the release of The Beatles’ seventh studio album ‘Revolver‘.

Amongst the other artists releasing 7″ singles on April 17th are Lily Allen, Pet Shop Boys, Hot Chip and Bat For Lashes. Hot Chip are releasing a new version of their song ‘I Feel Better‘, while Bat For Lashes will release two live tracks, ‘Howl!‘ and ‘Wild Is The Wind‘. Each release will be limited to 1,000 copies and are being made available at selected independent record stores across the country.
