Doves Not Splitting – 2 Year Break Planned

Doves

Loyal Doves fans worry not – the beloved Manchester band is not breaking up but rather taking a 2 year break from touring and recording, it was revealed yesterday. “We just [want] to get off that whole album-tour-album-tour treadmill,” singer Jimi Goodwin said.

The band is currently touring in support of their compilation album ‘The Places Between’ and have released just 4 albums in the past 10 years , their lastest being 2009’s ‘Kingdom of Rust’ which took up a full 4 years of production and studio time.

Talking to the Daily Record Goodwin explained: “None of us are ready to face going into the studio for another two years. This [compilation] is wiping the slate clean – we have nothing else in the vaults now. That is it. Whatever we do from now on will be a new start.”

The Guardian reports that while Doves may not be re-entering the studio, Goodwin will stay busy. He and Elbow’s Guy Garvey hope to finally work together after endlessly talking about it for years. “There are a couple of tracks that we have passed back and forwards to each other but it’s having the time,” he said. “We keep trying to get our diaries together. Who knows if it will ever get released? I’m just waiting to see what might happen.”
