Blur will release their first single in seven years, the band have announced.

The band members have been working on various projects after they went their separate ways in 2002. Guitarist Graham Coxon left while recording their last album Think Tank.

Blur reformed for a series of well received live gigs last year and now have decided to release a new track as part of this year’s Record Store Day, which celebrates the importance of independent record stores.

Although frontman Damon Albarn seems to be ready to move on from the band, he explained: “We want independent record stores to continue – they’re an important part of our musical culture. Music is a simple way for Blur to show our support and we hope people like it.”

If you want to snatch up one of these singles for yourself you’d better  linep  uearly – just 1,000 copies of the unspecified song will be released through independent stores on April 17. Unfortunately for U.S. fans, it seems like the 7” singles will only be available across the pond.
