The Strokes Discuss New Album – September Release Planned

juliancasablancasThe Strokes frontman and chief-songwriter Julian Casablancas has spoken of the progress being made by the band on their new record.

In an interview with the Chicago Tribune, Casablancas said the group have been working on new material in their native New York, and revealed the new LP is being tentatively pencilled in for a September release: “I’ve written a lot of melodies for it,” he said. “But the other guys have also contributed a lot more – melodies, choruses, parts. It’s way more collaborative. So it’ll have a different feel than our other albums.”

The singer also discussed the band’s busy summer schedule, which will include headline spots at the Lollapalooza and Isle of Wight festivals: “We’re getting the biggest offers of our career. It feels great, because I remember people writing things like, ‘We’ll see if they’re still around in ten years’, when we first came out”

The new record will be their first since 2006’s ‘First Impressions Of Earth‘. Julian Casablancas released his debut solo album ‘Phrazes For The Young‘ in November last year.

Tickets remain available for The Strokes’ headline appearance at this year’s Isle Of Wight festival:
