Manchester duo The Ting Tings have confirmed their upcoming second album will be called ‘Kunst‘.

The band, which consists of singer/guitarist Katie White and drummer/guitarist Jules De Angelo, told nme.com the inspiration for the title came while recording the album in Berlin: “Just round the corner to our studio there’s a massage parlour, it’s called Massage Kunst,” De Martino said. “It’s Massage Art, basically, we took a picture of that and sent it to our label, saying this is the title of the album. They went berserk.”

De Martino also discussed the the make-up of their new tracks during early recording sessions: “We listened back to some of the demos and we thought, hold on a minute, this is sounding too much like we’re rocking out live. We bought a couple of old weird synths in New York and smuggled them in our suitcases back to Berlin and they started to come strong on the music.”

The Ting Tings enjoyed a rapid rise to fame after their debut album ‘We Started Nothing’ hit the no.1 spot on the UK Album chart in May 2008. They also enjoyed success in the singles chart with ‘That’s Not My Name also reaching no.1 in 2008. The new record is set for release this year.
