Stereophonics are slated to play the inaugural concert of the newly built, super modern, Cardiff City stadium, on Saturday June 5th. The 32,000-seater is home to Cardiff’s football and rugby teams, as well as being used by the Welsh national football side but in the summer of 2010 it will be home to one of Britain’s finest, Stereophonics.

‘We want to make it a day to make Welsh people proud,’ says Kelly Jones. ‘We will be the first band to play the stadium and we love breaking in venues, even dating back to 1993, being the first band playing the Ivy Bush in Cwmaman!’

The gig promises to be one of the UK’s biggest in the still young decade,.

Stereophonics and its fans have a long standing love affair with Cardiff International Arena as the band have previously played a record breaking 13 sell out shows there.

‘It’s going to be a Welsh summer celebration, giving something back to the people of the valleys, towns and cities, says Kelly. ‘For us, it’s the icing on the cake of our sold out world tour!’

The band will resume touring across the UK when they head back out on the road in March for a 9 date Arena tour to support their new album ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’. The new single ‘Could You Be The One’ will be released February 15th

Glasgow (March 2nd) and Wembley (March 11th) were recently added on  to a 7 date run due to overwhelming demand.
