trent-reznorNine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor has revealed the band are set to release new material this year despite the band quitting playing live last year.

In a message on the band’s official website, Reznor said: “2010 has a number of things planned including new material from Nine Inch Nails and something else that isn’t Nine Inch Nails. I am in a state of rediscovery and reinvention that feels unfamiliar, unsure and exactly what I need.”

Nine Inch Nails played their last show in September when they played a special three hour gig in Los Angeles which saw them joined by the likes of Gary Numan and Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro on stage. Reznor told the crowd: “We’re not going to tour anymore as Nine Inch Nails, but we’re all still going to be making music.”

Any new material will be the first from the band since they released ‘The Slip‘ last year, initially a free download before a physical released followed in July.
