7digital_logo_203Itunes better watch their backs as UK based music store 7digital launched their bid to tackle the US music download market yesterday (Oct 6)

The new online store is confident it can be a success in the States and attract customers from the hugely popular iTunes and Amazon.

The low-price MP3 site is charging 77 cents (48p) per track which is roughly 20 per cent cheaper than iTunes and Amazon – at its US store.

If that weren’t enough trouble for iTunes 7digital is also offering a new BlackBerry application according to CEO Ben Drury .

“We could have launched in the US earlier,” he told Billboard.biz. “But we wanted to wait for BlackBerry – launching with them on board gives us an angle, because you’ll never see iTunes on a BlackBerry.”

The BlackBerry application is available to users in the US, UK, Germany and Spain. 7digital’s catalogue currently features eight million tracks.

You can absolutely use what you purchased how you like. Pre users should ask Palm to either create their own media syncing platform, or pay Apple for the right to sync with the software they developed.
