The Berlin Wall

Has it already been 20 years since the wall has fallen that divided Germany into east and west ? Well it has and Irish Rockers U2 are still alive and well and ready to celebrate the anniversary with a free concert at the Brandenburg gate in Berlin on November 5th.

The MTV Europe Music Awards will be in town holding their ceremony at the O2 World arena and beaming the event to it’s audience live.

U2’s manager Paul McGuinness is excited that the band will be in Berlin , “20 years almost to the day since the wall came down.”

The wall was demolished Nov. 9, 1989, ending almost 30 years of separation between east and west and the band’s pivotal 1991 album “Achtung Baby” was partly inspired by the band’s stay in the city.

Tickets for the show are available through the u2.com and mtvema.com Web sites from 0800 GMT Wednesday.
