The Flaming Lips

The Flaming Lips have revealed they are to follow up their recent studio album ‘Embryonic’ with a complete cover of Pink Floyd’s classic record ‘Dark Side Of The Moon‘. A spokesman for the band said the album would initially be a iTunes-only release, while frontman Wayne Coynerevealed American singer-songwriter Henry Rollins and solo singer would be amongst the artists appearing on the album.

Released in 1973, ‘Dark Side Of The Moon’ was Pink Floyd’s sixth studio album and was a huge hit upon it’s release. It has since gone on to sell over 40 million copies worldwide to date and is the fourth biggest selling album ever, behind Meatloaf’sBat Out Of Hell‘, AC/DC’sBack In Black’ and Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’.

Wayne Coyne also confirmed that the group’s new album, their twelfth studio record, is their last with Warner Music, but insisted they are happy to stay on the label. ‘It was never the big corporate label trying to change the weirdos from Oklahoma,’ he said. They made it possible we could be who we are. We owe Warner Bros for our whole way of being. We’re lucky that we’re able to earn lots of money. A lot of bands and artists aren’t as lucky as we are.’

w*nkers!! leave a perfect album by somebody much better than you alone and get in the studio and write something original - if you still can Coyne!!
to even have the nerve to suggest covering Dark Side is egotistical nonsense and the sooner the Flamin Lips go up in flames, the better!!
