Acclaimed British rock band Elbow‘s debut album ‘Asleep In The Back‘ is to be re-issued with new songs and live tracks later this month.
Out on October 26th, the new package will feature the original 12-song tracklisting, along with a second disc featuring tracks from Steve Lamacq radio sessions and a 2001 London Astoria gig. A DVD will also be issued, which will contain official videos, home videos and brand new live footage.
‘Asleep In The Back’ was originally released in 2001, over a decade after the members of Elbow played their first gig, under the name Mr. Soft. They changed their name to Elbow in 1997 and had a debut album ready to be released that year, but the planned release was scrapped after the band’s label was bought out by Universal. After releasing a series of EP’s over the next few years, ‘Asleep In The Back’ was eventually released through V2 Records in May ’01. The album went on to break into the UK top 20, and earned the band their first Mercury Music Prize nomination – an award they would go on to win in 2008 with their fourth studio album ‘The Seldom Seen Kid’.
