Review: Moshi Moshi Records Night – London

Posted on 31 Oct 2009 at 8:39pm

Thursday night at the Hoxton Bar & Kitchen and I am thinking, this is the best place to be tonight! Its a special Moshi Moshi Records Night and there are some great bands on and a couple had definitely made a permanent impression on this writer. First up are very special friends of Live4ever and they are Chapter24.

Tonight’s show case openers from South London are a noisy pop quartet which never disappoint. A special night for these guys and an opportunity to really show what all their fans know they can do. As always, they are punchy, catchy and so infectious, that every audience member were paying attention to their quirky stylings. The band are on top form tonight and as soon as they kick into their song ‘Hepcats’, its a real goose bumps moment. Carefully constructed hooks and melodies that just make you wanna bop til you drop! It was like they let you in for a glimpse and all you want is more more more!

Aussies Little Red Release New Single “Waiting/Wait is Over”

Posted on 30 Oct 2009 at 12:51pm

Waiting / Wait Is Over’ is the second succulent single to be taken from Melbourne’s rock ‘n’ roll revisionaries Little Red’s debut album ‘Listen To’.

It follows hot on the tail of the recent success of ‘It’s Alright / Coca-Cola’, which quickly built them a fan base of tastemaker luminaries, including BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe, Radio 2 stalwarts Radcliffe & Maconie, and XFM’s John Kennedy, and also found a home on the XFM playlist, and as BBC 6 Music’s breakfast show ‘Record of the Week’. Session invitations on the table from XFM and Absolute add to the eager anticipation for their very first UK shows in November.

Robbie Williams Takes Pop at Oasis , Pulls Out Of MTV Music Awards

Posted on 30 Oct 2009 at 11:28am

Robbie Williams, who was lovingly nick named “the fat dancer” by the Gallaghers, has taken another pop at his old rivals Oasis.

Thinking  Liam and Noel Gallagher are better off apart Robbie says: “Originally I thought they’d inevitably get back together because they are the band.

“But reading between the lines, they’re both really stubborn so I don’t think they will. To be honest, I know there’s history between us and this isn’t very complimentary, but they’ve been doing a lap of honour for the past 13 years. There’s been the occasional gem here and there, The Importance Of Being Idle, and, well, that’s about it.”

The XX – Down to a Trio as Guitarist “Takes a Break”

Posted on 29 Oct 2009 at 9:52pm

These photos speak a thousand words. A seemingly tired band with visibly  unhappy Baria Qurishi manning keyboards and the guitar push themselves to complete a Gibson sponsored in-store appearance at NBC in New York City just last Friday. Although this was part of CMJ’s Music Marathon the daylight setting at the famous ’30 Rock’ skyscraper sure didn’t appear like your average The XX CMJ performance.
