Live4ever Presents… Underground Heroes & Polka Party

Polka Party

Polka Party

This weeks ‘Live4ever Presents…’gives you two bands from slightly different musical backgrounds but are both exciting young upstarts that definitely deserve a mention.

First band up I hold very dear to my heart. Been following these guys since they released a single on James Endeacott’s 1965 label. These guys go by the name of ‘Underground Heroes’ and they are ready to give you there hearts on their sleeves.

The first time I heard anything from this band was in the shape of their first 7″ single, Stella The Mistress. The B-Side was the track that really caught my ear and that was called ‘Lost In Dundee’.Now im not lying when I say that this song in question is the second most played song on my iPod. That song really grabbed me by the jugular and has never let go. Everytime I hear it I just want to swagger through a crowd and scream how much I love this band!

Just some words from the critics already…””Million miles an hour cocky-yet-witty-with-it-lad-punk – in the best possible way” from The NME. “”They’re really young and exciting live. It’s like they’ve just got out of school and someone has stuck fucking bombs up their arses” from James Endeacott of 1965 records. This band at the moment are yet to release an album, but have such a loyal fanbase that follow them everywhere that I can’t imagine it wont be long till they release a full length album. Just listen to some of their tracks on their myspace page and tell me you are not jumping around and doing the pogo! Its infectious and catchy as hell, raw and with a punky attitude that you rarely see in new bands at the moment.

Check them out here… http://myspace.com/undergroundheroes and listen to the tracks on their and also download a few tracks too!

I hope that one listen will make you want to see these guys play live, and if you do I just want to highlight some shows they are due to play soon.

Upstairs in The Garage, London on the 10th October

Hatters, Manchester on the 19th October

Flapper & Firkin, Birmingham on the 20th October.

A passion and an attitude that is unquestionable and something which will shine through with this guys everytime. Honest, Raw and without a doubt your new favourite band.

Now my second choice for this weeks article are so new that they have barely got out of the rehearsal room and onto a live stage. But dont let that put you off because ‘Polka Party’ are so exciting and are just really so damn good that it wont be long before many more people have heard of them.

Now I heard of these guys through searching another band I was recommended. I then found this band through a very new record label based in their home county of Kent. Hockey Records have only two bands on their books so far, Moscow Drive and the wonderful Polka Party.

Check out their tracks here http://myspace.com/officialpolkaparty

‘Japanese Haircut’ being a personal favourite of mine.

Hooks and stuttering guitars with a combination of dancey drumbeats and lyrics laden with irony and teenage angst. If you like Friendly Fires, Editors and Joy Division, this band are definitely what you will be into. Remember that these guys are hot of the press, this will probably be the first big mention this band have had, so dont forget where you heard about them first.

If you are in town and you want to get on that dancefloor and experience this band in all their glory, check them out at the next few gigs.
