Details for next year’s Glastonbury festival have been released today, and reveal a £10 increase on prices from last year.

The tickets will be on sale from 9am on Sunday, October 4th. The new price will be £185, with a £5 booking fee and £4.95 postage charge on top. As in keeping with the past few years, a registration scheme will be implemented in an attempt to discourage ticket touts. Fans will have to register before 9am, Friday October 2nd, although those who registered last year will not have to re-register.

Speaking on the price rise this year, organiser Michael Eavis said: “(The price has risen) a little bit, I’m afraid. I do try and hold it down, but the girls doing the budgeting are so thorough and so clever, and they said: ‘Look, the minimum rise we can get away with is 10 quid more’. It is a shame, because I really wanted to hold the price.”

The legendary festival will be celebrating it’s 40th anniversary next year, and both Michael and Emily Eavis have discussed their hopes for the special event. Shortly after the conclusion of this year’s event, Michael Eavis revealed he already had headliners for 2010 in mind, saying: “I’ve booked the Friday headliner after talking to someone’s agent an hour ago. It’s the 40th anniversary in 2010, and we’re also hoping to seal a really amazing anniversary headliner soon,” while Emily Eavis also said: “We want to have a band from every year on the Pyramid Stage. We’ll have a lot of the biggest performances on some of the tiniest stages.”

The festival enjoyed a memorable 2009, with spectacular headline performances from Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen and Blur.
