Snow Patrol have revealed songs being worked on for their new album are moving in a different direction from their previous work.

Speaking to BBC’s Newsbeat, the band’s guitarist Nathan Connolly said: “They’re all very different from each other. They will always be rooted in strong melody and Gary’s lyrics.”

“They sound like Snow Patrol but presented slightly differently. I think I’d rather let people make up their own mind. I think some people might be surprised. Some people might just think it’s normal. I think it’s different.”

After forming in 1994, the band released two albums, ‘Songs For Polarbears’ in 1998 and ‘When It’s All Over We Shall Have To Clear Up’ in 2001, before hitting the big time with third album ‘ Final Straw’. They then found further success with 2006’s ‘Eyes Open’, which spawned the hit single ‘Chasing Cars’.

Connolly also revealed what fans can expect when the band hit the road for their ‘Reworked’ tour at the end of the year: “We want to change it up,” he said. “We’re going to rearrange all the songs and try them in a different way. There’s strings, brass, maybe a small choir. We’re going to try and do things differently. We want to try and mess with the songs and see. If people are wanting to come and hear the hits the way they are I guess they need to be warned.”

The ‘Reworked’ Tour begins in Brighton on November 18th.
