Indie stars  Noah and the Whale have made a film to complement their latest album which is currently being previewed in 4 UK cinemas.

Directed by lead singer Charlie Fink, The First Days Of Spring gives fans the opportunity to listen to the follow-up album  of the band from Twickenham’s 2008 debut, Peaceful, The World Lays Me Down, while watching the near feature-length film at the same time.

Actors such as model Daisy Lowe play characters who struggle with intimacy, isolation, death and renewal in relationships.

At a screening in Sheffield on Wednesday the piece will be introduced by Fink and followed by a question and answer session.

The name Noah and the Whale combines the title of one of the band’s favourite films, The Squid and the Whale, and the moniker of its director, Noah Baumbach.

The group are also fans of film director Wes Anderson, who helped produce The Squid and the Whale alongside Baumbach, and the band’s emails and blogs are often signed Sic Transit Gloria, a phrase frequently used in Anderson’s seminal movie, Rushmore.
